This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I really like this course. I have gained lots of teaching strategies that I’ve never learned before like how I would deal with different groups (mono/bilingual), different levels, beginners, to work toward and to the needs of the students, time and classroom management and others particularly the content of the course respectively. I have been teaching for about three years at a private primary school in Pohnpei, FSM from 1990 to 1993 and now currently teaching at a Tertiary Institute named Marine Training Centre, Kiribati (going to five years) but, first time in my life to learn such what I called “spot on”.
Right now, I have two volunteers from New Zealand (VSA) and one AVI, who are under my supervision teaching english Language as a second language to the Kiribati seafarers and future seafarers (Monolingual students) at the Marine Training Centre. Being selected to this important position at this Institution, because of how much I’ve gained from this course and most importantly putting it into reality in the classroom with these futures of Kiribati who are trained to go for further challenges on International vessels overseas. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to my tutor, Tania for her efforts, professional way of approach and giving instructions directly to help me with my future career. Thank you Tania, once again.
