I have gained so much from taking this course. I have no teaching experience and I haven’t taken any previous teaching courses so I walk away with so much more knowledge and confidence in my own abilities. While I was abroad in japan, I did some private tutoring but I didn’t really know how to do a good job and knew it there were better ways to go about doing the job I was hired to do. After taking this course, I can safely say that everything from Unit 1 to Unit 20 was so helpful and taught me the principles and strategies needed to teach ESL.
Now that I have the basics for teaching ESL, I plan to eventually teach english in Japan. Whether it is through private companies such as AEON or the government-sponsored JET program, I hope to secure a teaching job. And the fact that I finished this course certainly helps in making more qualified.
