This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Personally, the biggest gain from this course has been the lesson plans. Getting familiar with planning out the day and having things structured for both my sake and the students' was a major plus. In the past, most of my lesson plans have been done for me, and I just followed them. There was very little room for changing anything, as it was not my class, but merely my class for the day. Also, refreshing on all the grammar was definitely helpful. I have not been taught or had to think about the rules and structure of english for quite a while, and, although I knew the usage and flow of the language, explaining why certain words are used in certain situations, pointing out tenses, and articulating the subtleties and exceptions in the language were going to be difficult without a refresh, particularly with the literature classes I took in college that purposefully bend and manipulate the rules of english, if not flatly disregard them.
