  "As mentioned before our four words here all are similar in using the ?b? and ?t? sounds at the end. So we know that those phonemes will be used in spelling each one of those words phonetically. Now what we're left to do is assign a phoneme for our vowel sounds. So if we analyze the word, it's ?e? as in bet. We look at our chart, we see the phoneme which corresponds to that sound and that happens to be the standard ?e? that we all recognize.   The Present perfect tense is a very useful tense. It is the tense that relates the past to the present. It also tends to be the tense that can often present some difficulties to the English language learner and sometimes the English language teacher. The activity in this video has the students examining two pictures, picture A and picture B. The pictures depict a scene in a house; Picture B is similar to A but with a number of changes. Students are asked to spot the changes and to express the change using the Present Perfect. For example in Picture A, a pile of unironed clothes can be seen next to the ironing board but in picture B the clothes are ironed. So the student would say "He has done the ironing."   Our next consideration is that of giving instructions to our students. In order for those students to effectively carry out an activity, we need to make sure we have given clear and unambiguous instructions. It's also very important to check that the students understand the activity before you start. If you've done that work correctly then the teacher shouldn't need to say anything once an activity has started because the students are very clear about what they're supposed to be doing.   In this video for a teaching English second language teaching idea the students are given a sheet of paper with a series of pictures and each picture has a prompt with complicated verb structure as well as irregular verbs. The students will have to look at the prompts and order the pictures so as to make a story in the past simple tense.   Next, a couple of issues surrounding the use of worksheets and workcards. Firstly, these types of materials can either be bought or they could be made by yourself. Very often many of the book series that we use will have workcards in their teacher resource book. Worksheets and workcards are very useful because they can act as a prompt to introduce an activity or topic.
