This unit covered the various types of learning groups that may be encountered, such as beginners - children and adults; business English learners; solo students; and multilingual classes; and the approaches that are appropriate for each. Currently, I primarily teach children and found that the needs and approaches mentioned in this lesson are comparable with my experience. I do have an adult class, and as mentioned in this unit, attendance is spotty and levels vary quite a bit. It is not as formal as a business English class, but I do think that it would be helpful to conduct an informal needs assessment as mentioned. I think it will help me better organize the class and be flexible with the attendance and language level issues. Although I've never taught a multilingual class, I can appreciate the challenges mentioned and will consult this unit as a resource if I teach such a class in the future.
