Past tense is one of the most common parts in English, but it is really easy to make mistakes. One of the difficult parts for past tense is the irregular verbs, they are very difficult for students to remember. There are no rules for this kind of verbs so students can only remember them mechanically. But we can use some different activities to help students to remember, such as card games, interview replay and discuss past holidays.
There are three different past forms in past tense: affirmative, negative and question form. For the past continuous tense, we also need to give some forms of time reference.
The past tense is usually used to describe an action or situation which happened in the past. However, not all the languages have past tense such as Mandarin Chinese. That makes students from Mandarin Chinese feel more difficult when they are learning English.
