In this unit, I learned a new way to teach, which is "ESA"--Engage, Study and Activate.
For the first stage, Engage, we need to do warm-up to make students think in English and it will be earlier for us to start the class. Teachers need to know about students' level, and help students to familiar with others.
After that is Study stage, teacher need to focus on teaching the target language, including new vocabularies, spelling, pronunciation, meaning and how it is constructed. In this stage, elicitation is really important, teachers need to do eliciting before teaching.
Finally, the Activate stage. In this stage, we should encourage students to use what they learned during the lesson and some important languages learned before. The students should all talk in English instead of their L1.
There is one more thing which is really important. Teachers should know when and where to correct students. The best way is ask them to correct it themselves, we shouldn't always telling them answers. Also, we shouldn't correct students too much, or students may lose confident and stop talking, which we really don't want to see.
