There are four different skills in any languages, which are receptive skill(include listening and reading) and productive skill(include speaking and writing). For this unit, we focused on the listening and reading skills.
For a beginner, reading is more easier than listening because they can see the real words on the paper and they can even use a dictionary to check the meaning of the work. However, for listening, they will only listen for once and there is no chance to replay. Can only listen once means that they don't have time to deduct what they heart and what the meaning is. That is why they think listening is more different than reading.
Another important thing for students is they have pre-existing knowledge or not. If they do have the pre-existing knowledge for this topic, it will be much easier for them to understand. However, if the topic is too special that they have never heard, it will be really difficult for beginner to continues. That means we should choose the topic very carefully.
If some topics is really difficult but interesting. We can teach them some vocabulary about the topic, that can help students have a better understanding for the topic.
