To talk about the learners, there are some factors that teachers should be aware of: age, motivation,
life experience, language awareness, culture, behavior, experience of learning, and level. However, age
can affect other factors as well. Adult learners are more motivated than younger learners since usually
the decision of learning for adults is initiated by themselves. With longer attention span, adults are more
capable to concentrate and follow teachers’ instruction. More life experience of adult learners allows
teachers to apply more topics during class, however, more experience of learning could cause
disagreement between teachers and students, because adults have expectations which could limit the
flexibility, openness, and ability to absorb new things. Also, level of the students should be considered. It
is very important that the method and the activities for the students can vary. For lower level students,
easier activities and simpler instructions should be provided. For higher level students, teachers should
expect more challenges, so should be more prepared.
