I agree that English learners who are surrounded by English speaking environment have
more opportunity to improve their English skills. Since I am not an English speaker as first language
and had stayed in my native country, I had barely chance to use English. Like what this module said, I
had less opportunity to put my English into practice while staying in my country. And those
experiences made me to get interested more in this module.
Some methods and techniques which help learners to have the best results of learning have
got my interest. The first one is Presentation, Practice, and Production. This method let
teachers/educators present the context and situation of new language first including explaining and
demonstrating of meaning and form of new languages. It has proved that it’s more effective to lower
levels than higher level students. It’s also written that Grammar-translation helps learners to acquire
their foreign language through preventing from getting the kind of natural language input.
Audio-lingualism which suggests learning is a result of habit formation can help learners through
encouraging speaking freely using their own knowledge. Especially for low-level students, this
methodology is more useful because it processes language more effectively to them.
