For several teachers it is difficult to select the appropriate lesson or activity, others might complain
about whether use the course book or not. This unit said course books are controversial issue some
teachers like them which could be less time consuming and may offer many kinds of good ideas for
the unexperienced teacher whilst others dislike them because they are almost always a compromise
and students may not like the book.
There are two kinds of materials to be able to be used in the class. Authentic materials which are
anything to be heard and read can be programs, magazines, newspapers, song etc. these are not
graded for level but teachers would use these materials so that they encourage student to get
confidence when they work out the materials
The other one is created materials. These are often made by teachers to make up materials from
course books. These include crosswords, word search puzzles, role-play cards, flash cards etc. this
unit let me know some examples and web sites as well which can be helpful to me who will be a
unexperienced teacher.
When I use course book in my class I need to be aware of the flowing list; looking at range being
appropriate to my students, thinking about which items to motivate students and how much time I will
spend to create my own suitable lesson, being critical to those books and not considering the books
as the solution to everything.
