Within Unit 7, we see how the ESA methods can be applied when it comes to teaching students about grammar, new vocabulary, and functions. Beginning with vocabulary, the straight arrow ESA method can easily be utilized in order to teach students the basics of the English language. A straight arrow method could be considered as the best method as you do not want to overwhelm the students at once. Utilizing either the patchwork or boomerang methods can put too much pressure on the students leaving them intimidated with learning. Once students have begun to grasp vocabulary better by becoming more confident with how they handle it, we can move on to utilizing the boomerang and patchwork methods when it comes teaching grammar and function. Especially since both grammar and function require a bit more time and detail in teaching to the students.
