Unit 7 was about teaching vocabulary. Knowing the vocabulary is important so the students are able to use the language. As a vocabulary item is important to know what's the meaning, the use, word grammar, interaction, spelling and pronunciation. There are several techniques for teaching vocabulary. There can be different kind of mimes, pictures or discussions. Teacher can for example give a task for the students, to list 10 different animals, fruits or other objects. Students can discuss in pairs or in small groups about some subject, or explain something from imagination, for example their dream house with the decoration.
Learning the vocabulary can depend of several factors, for example the words they already know and how similar the new words are. It's important for the teacher to select which words to teach to different groups, which are relevant or irrelevant considering the stage of learning and students age etc.
