It comes as no surprise to me that phonetics is HARD! As a topic that comes completely innate to an English speaker, I will have to invest time - likewise tenses - into learning the content of a phonetics lesson thoroughly so it can be delivered accurately to my students.
I think strategies such as tongue twisters can be used in small doses within larger topics to have the students be able to enjoy the subject matter and also be given clear examples of the quirks of English pronunciation.
