Madadeni, Eastern Cape TESOL Online & Teaching English Jobs
This unit explained the difference between the productive and receptive skills needed in using a language. It explained about the ways on how to motivate the students in reading or listening to a new language that they are not familiar with. It also discussed about the subskills of the receptive skills such as skimming, scanning and etc. It was also properly demonstrated on how you can apply the ESA methodology in making an activity geared towards the receptive skills. In my opinion, the difficulty of each receptive skill is dependent on the learner. There might be individuals who can read fast but has difficulty with listening or vice versa, therefore knowing the techniques how to motivate a student in studying will clearly help not only the teacher but also the student itself.
