TEFL Certificate Germany
The Country
As in many other European countries, teaching business English in Germany is one of the major prospects for English teachers. There are many English teaching positions available throughout the country and a teacher with a TEFL certificate would have few problems securing employment. Salaries are relatively high for English teachers in Germany, but so is the cost of living. Germans tend to prefer American English, and opportunities exist for North Americans here despite Germany being a major player in the EU.
Due to the current state of the German economy, many large corporations and small companies are looking to have their employees develop their English language skills in order to increase their global market. For this reason, TEFL teachers are finding that there are more positions available than people to fill them.
The best method for obtaining a TEFL job is simply collecting addresses of schools in the desired city and mailing out resumes. As most of the English teaching positions are through language schools and business centers, people with strong business or IT backgrounds should have no problems finding a suitable position. If you do not have these skills, you could also search for TEFL jobs in the smaller towns in Germany, as the need for English is prominent throughout the country. The competition in these smaller towns is usually small, and as long as you have a degree and an interest in staying for a while, you should have no problem securing a position.
Teaching English in Germany legally is much easier than it is in other EU countries. Teachers from the USA typically only need find a job and get a letter from their employer to start working legally. Canadians can also get a work visa but the downside is that they have to return home with a letter of employment to begin the work visa process
