France is a first-rate destination for a qualified EFL teacher. There English teaching positions available in most of the major cities, with the vast majority of the work in Paris. Language schools in Paris cater largely to business English courses, and any previous knowledge or experience of business will prove very useful. France also seems to be one of the easier EU countries for non-EU passport holders to find English teaching jobs. Business qualifications and experience account more than higher TEFL qualifications in France. Essentially, anyone who has a BA and is comfortable in a business setting has a chance of finding teaching work, particularly if they have a working knowledge of French.

Finding a job teaching English in France will be very easy to do if you have experience in the field of teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL), have at least a general knowledge of the French language, and you have an EU passport. Beyond these qualifications, you should have no problems finding a position as long as you are flexible and allow yourself some time to secure this position.

Teaching English as a Foreign Language is arguably one of the easiest jobs to find in France without actually being there. For this reason, it is suggested that you begin your job search from your home country, or the country where you are currently teaching English or TEFL training. While the most popular route for finding jobs teaching English in France is to work through a language school, private lessons in people’s homes are also a smart way to make some extra money (about 15-20 Euro a session).
