In the unit I found it interesting to consider the rules according to reported speech. Normally these turns of phrase come naturally to me when speaking. Now that I am having to breakdown the reasons for specific choices is interesting.
I found the diagram on changes to tense when used in reported speech very helpful, it was extremely clear and easy to understand as a consequence.The main thing I learned from this unit was about the different specific functions the various future tenses have. For example, using \"going to,\" to make predictions based on evidence whereas using the future simple tense is necessary when making a prediction without evidence. As a native speaker I didn't realize all of these different functions so it's very useful to learn them.
