This was entirely new material for me. I wasn't aware of the phonetic alphabet. I found the videos very helpful for my learning of the material. But also I learned a lot from the teacher. This gentleman as opposed to some others was very engaging- warm, supportive to the students, yet clearly commanded the room. He used a variety of techniques and certainly kept me engaged.Unit 11 introduces the basic skills of language: reading and listening, and speaking and writing. This unit in particular focuses on teaching receptive skills ? reading and listening. I learned how that in order to teach these skills properly, we must divide the reasons and motives and that the two wide-ranging categories would be: for a purpose, and for entertainment.
