I think it is often appropriate to teach some new vocab and grammar at one lesson as some structures and groups of words seem to fit each other perfectly. For instance, "there is / are" or "I have got" go well with furniture words or Food is a good match for Article usage grammar. I always start with new vocabulary and go ahead to target grammar. This way you kill two birds with one stone though there are certain limits to that approach. It also proved to pay off when I give next-lesson vocab for home study so we just cover pronunciation problems right at the start of the class and move on to drill the target vocabulary within new language structures.
