There are 5 main conditionals in English language, that start from conditionals stating general truths or facts (0 conditional) and move up to conditionals dealing with hypothetical statements about the past or present (third and mixed conditionals). It is very easy to come up with entertaining tasks and teaching ideas for conditionals, since they are used pretty extensively in everyday conversations. When we describe facts, plans, dreams, failures or some unreal fantasies, we usually employ conditionals. Reported speech is based on a principle of backshifting, that can be illustrated with a simple chart. This chart suggests the correct replacements for words and tenses when we want to transform a direct speech into reported speech sentence. Again the teaching ideas here all lie on the surface, for example reported speech might be used to spread rumors, gossip or misinterpret words of others in a casual conversation.
