In Unit 18, first I have learnt 12 modals which stand for differences and similarities, such as certainty, possibility, necessity, request, obligation, ability, permission, suggestion and so on. We may get confused if we don’t distinguish them carefully. So we should remember the sheet and practice as much as possible. Second, I have learnt passive voice which is used for the following conditions: When the performer of the action is not known or not important, or we don’t want to say who performs the action. The tense of the passive voice is the key and difficult point. Third, I’ve learnt relative clauses, which contain two types defining (without commas) and non-defining (with commas). Finally, I’ve learnt phrasal verbs. There’re three types of phrasal verbs, such as intransitive, transitive separable and transitive inseparable. We must keep the rules firmly in mind.
