In this Unit, very critically, not only did I learn about what makes a good teacher and a good student, but also I learnt the relationship dynamics between the two. I have learnt about the various roles that teachers should play, and how perhaps of each of these different roles should interface in a typical classroom teaching setting. To this end, the emphasis placed on employing a combination of these roles, as described, in the Unit, (i.e. that of Manager/Controller; Organiser; Assessor; Participant; Tutor, Resource/Facilitator; Model and Observer/Monitor) is hugely relevant. I have particularly found it useful to learn about the key factors that we need to take into account with learners of English, and how these dimensions (such as age, culture, language level and motivation etc ) might differ and have an impact on learning the English language among adult learners and young learners. It was also useful to briefly understand the two sets of common standards of the English language.
