This unit introduces how to create a lesson plan and the importance of lessoning planning, particularly for new inexperienced teachers. In particular this unit made me aware of the planning : teaching ratio. Each lesson you teach may only be 1 hour, but in order for that 1 hour to run smoothly and achieve student learning objectives, I think a planning : teaching ratio of 1:1 is necessary. At the very least it was clear from the sample lesson plans provided in this unit that a smooth, engaging, enjoyable and overall successful lesson does not come together on the spot.
