I feel this unit accurately describes the many different roles that both we, as teachers and learners, need to actively engage in to gain the most out of a course we are both participating in. For example, without a teacher who cared about the progress of the learners, who was also organized in the delivery of the material, and able to motivate the students on a variety of levels, the students would not be engaged to learn the language in the first place. On the other hand, as teachers, we should recognize the qualities that show students are interested in learning a new language. Learners show a desire to learn a new language by exhibiting the following: a willingness to listen and experiment with the language, ask questions (whether they are confused or just curious!), accept corrections, and devise which learning methods best suite their needs to achieve their best. Looking back, what I learned the most from the unit is that the are pros and cons to teaching at each level, from beginner to advanced, and from young children to adults that I had never considered before. I guess you never really know until you have tried a little bit of it all!
