Unit 1 describes the positive attributes of a good teacher, the various roles a teacher may occupy in the classroom, as well as a detailed description of the types of students a teacher will encounter. Unit 1 outlines the stages of language learning from basic to advanced in both practical terms as well as in the Common European Framework terms. In this unit, I learned important information about the roles of a teacher in the classroom, the needs of different students based on age and motivation for taking the course, as well as some good terms and words for the profession. Because of the positive nature of the unit (discussing how teachers should be kind and patient and love teaching) this unit also gave me a boost of confidence, and I learned for myself how this profession can truly be fulfilling.
