Unit 7 focuses on teaching new language. Three categories of language training are covered in the lesson namely teaching grammer, vocabulary and function. It is suggested that the most appropriate lesson plan for teaching grammar and vocabulary is the "straight arrow" ESA approach whereas the boomerang or partchwork approach is more appropriate for function-based lessons. However, it is important to note that there is no "correct" way and that the teacher should think about what structure is most appropriate to the class and the language that will be taught.
