Unit 10 provides the vision of two different videos of the same lesson, taught twice by the same teacher. These videos show very clearly some basic differences between an effective and ineffective teaching approach. In the first video, the teacher seems in a rush; as a consequence, the students appear frightened by him, so they are not participative and proactive during the lesson. The teacher's voice is also not so clear and he talks fast, so his few instructions and explanations are not clear to the students. He shows himself very disorganized and the students are very confused about the lesson's content. He doesn't follow a real method, he skips the engage phase, the study phase is very unclear and the activate stage is totally confusing. At the end of the lesson, the students are very confused and also incredulous of his rude and disrespectful behaviour. By contrast, in the second lesson, the teacher follows a more structured approach, he involves every student as he calls them by their names, he always monitors the students and he appears to be very clear and organized with his method. He also has his material ready at the beginning of the class, which points out a planned lesson. As a consequence of the teacher's attitude, in this lesson the students are more participative and proactive. The general atmosphere in the classroom is much more relaxed and the students are encouraged to learn, as all the phases of the lesson are very arranged and well prepared. As an observer of these videos, my conclusion is that the teacher's attitude and the teaching style can influence a lot the progress of lesson. In the same way, the lesson's structure and content can affect the students' understanding.
