This unit deals with effective and ineffective teaching methods. It demonstrates the importance of, amongst others, speaking clearly, engaging the students, pitching the lesson at the correct level and encouraging students through their behaviour and gestures. It also shows how pronunciation can be practised during the lesson whilst teaching grammar. For me the most important role of the teacher, as demonstrated by the second lesson, is to involve all the students, to create a safe environment where students can learn and participate and to maintain or enhance the self esteem of students at all times.
