Unit 8 discusses the future tenses. The future can be quite difficult to teach due to the complexity of the range of ideas used with future meanings. There are seven forms of the future tense with the most commonly used forms being 'be going + infinitive' and the present continuous. All seven forms include: future simple, future continuous, future perfect, future perfect continuous, 'be going' + infinitive, present simple.
Some common mistakes with the future involve confusing two different forms of the future with one another. For example, confusion of 'be going to' and future simple, is common. Another example is confusing the future perfect for the future perfect continuous.
This is due to having difficulty in distinguishing the difference between completion of an action by a certain time in the future, and how long something will have continued for, by a certain time.
