In this interesting unit, I learnt pronunciations and phonology. Phonology is the study of the science, analysis and classification of sound. Here, i learnt the different uses and techniques in teaching intonations which includes; nonsense words, gesture, singing and making marks on the board using straight or angled arrows to emphasize the direction of intonations. I also learnt the various stress patterns and techniques for indicating and teaching stress. Phonemic alphabets, phonemic symbols, places and manner of articulations and techniques used in teaching pronunciations of individual sounds are important areas a good teaching should not leave out when teaching phonology.
