Unit 18: modals, pheasants verbs and passive voice, I learned about passive and active voice. For example, the active voice is when the subject of these preforms the actions of the snectence. In addition, I learned, an action verb with a direct object is transitive while an action verb with no direct object is intransitive. Some verbs, such as arrive, go, lie, sneeze, sit, and die, are always intransitive; it is impossible for a direct object to follow. Another point in Unit 18 were modal verbs. There are a type of auxiliary (helping) verb that is used to express: ability, possibility, permission or obligation. Modal phrases (or semi-modals) are used to express the same things as modals, but are a combination of auxiliary verbs and the preposition to. Lastly, there are relative clauses, there are clauses are clauses starting with the relative pronouns who*, that, which, whose, where, when. They are most often used to define or identify the noun that precedes them
