Unit 14 contained information about the types of coursebooks and lesson planning materials. There are many different types of coursebooks that we can use as teachers. We have to be careful to adapt and make the course work relevant to the students ability levels and interests. Using authentic materials such as brochures, programs, newspapers etc can give the students confidence to use their English more in real life. It is also important to use created materials such as crosswords and word searches in order for students to practice their skills in the study phase. We are then provided with a number of different examples of resources we can use. I am particularly enamoured of role plays as I think they can be fun and educational and help break the ice with the students and they can learn off each other!
