This chapter looks at pronunciation and phonology, looking at subjects such as stress, intonation, and phonemes. As someone with a music background, I enjoyed reading through this unit, especially since my limited English teaching experience was based heavily on working pronunciation and stress. This unit, then, helps to reinforce certain principles that I had brought into my teaching from my music background, and it also serves to introduce new ideas that will help me teach these ideas more methodically. Seeing as this unit emphasizes the importance of the IPA, I will need to spend time on learning it before going into the classroom again.
