This unit focuses on creating the lesson plan and the importance of using a lesson plan. Lesson plans are important because these set the goal on what you want the students to achieve at the end of the lesson as well as to help you achieve these by working logically. It is a document that helps you stay on your target without being too rigid. Also, it is a record of what the class did in class. This unit also shows that it is important that when you construct a lesson plan, you must make it simple, it shouldn't be scripted, but structured in a way that is maintained throughout, activities should be time bound, skills used or practiced should be balanced and the plan itself must be flexible. The elements that are needed in the lesson plan are the learner objectives, personal aims, the language point, the teaching aids to be used, and of course the learning problems that may occur. The procedure, phases, timing and who will interact in the lesson must also be included to help the teacher become flexible and effective. Class level, number of students, date and time, and teacher's observations help in the document keeping to help the teacher adjust her lessons in the future.
