Unit 7 covers teaching new language, including; vocabulary, grammar and functions. Teaching vocabulary explains how to select vocabulary and the factors to consider, what students need to know about a vocabulary item, and the techniques for vocabulary teaching throughout the engage, study and activate stages. A typical ESA vocabulary lesson is demonstrated. The unit then covers introducing grammatical structures and what a student needs to know about this. The techniques for presenting and practicing language structures in the engage, study and activate stages is also explained. An example of a typical ESA grammar lesson is given. The unit finally covers teaching language functions, including the typical ESA function lessons throughout the engage, activate and study phases.
