Ashton-Sandy Spring, Maryland TESOL Online & Teaching English Jobs
This unit covered the four different present tenses in the English language: simple, perfect, continuous, and perfect continuous. These are each used in a wide variety of situations, and it is important to understand exactly how each is formed and used in order to properly teach them. One common point of confusion is the difference between the present continuous and present perfect continuous tenses. While it may make sense to use the latter, as with “I have been knowing you for five years,” the correct form is actually using the former, as with “I have known you for five years.” This is just one example of many that a teacher must be ready to deal with when teaching the present tense.
