This unit gives an overview of the different roles that teachers must utilize, as well giving examples of learners motivations for taking part in the learning experience. To become a good teacher, one must take on the appropriate role at any given time to best motivate, assess and guide the learners. An example could be first dividing the class into groups as the manager, then monitoring the learners as they perform the assigned task (from an appropriate distance), and lastly prompting the learners to share their findings from the task. However, teachers must also keep in mind the motivations of their learners, their reason for learning, and try to foster more engagement and motivation for learning, or, in the case of already highly motivated learners, maintain those motivations.
