This unit contained useful reminders about what it means to be a good teacher. Finding ways to keep students engaged and motivated is the challenge for the teacher. A sensitive, creative teacher who loves teaching is likely to help motivate and inspire students to learn. On the other hand students who are committed to learning and ask questions and are willing to speak out as well as accept feed back are in a good position to thrive in a language class. Teaching adults and teaching young children require different approaches. Children have shorter attention spans and require more hands on projects, songs stories and pictures. It is important to be sensitive to the students level and maturity and be willing to adapt lessons to challenge the students at their level. There are various levels from beginner to advanced which define students proficiency in speaking and understanding the English language.
