After reading unit 12, I gained a lot of good insight on the importance of developing speaking and writing skills. I learned that accuracy and fluency hold equal importance. Accuracy activities helps students develop the correct language because they learn in a controlled way while fluency activities allow for students to try to use the language freely and be creative with it to help them speak smoothly and have a better flow while speaking. I also learned about some good ways to get students to interact and participate such as putting them in pairs or groups or giving them plenty of time to think about the activity. I also learned about the importance of developing writing skills. I realized that many students' native languages may be structured and look very different from English which may present many challenges. Overall, I learned many things about teaching speaking and writing skills.
