Reading and listening skills are equally important as other skills because it will help us achieve goals and aims to accelerate learning skills, we have to incorporate them to our language lessons. A student who maybe fluent in speaking English most likely learn to read and write fast than with a student who is less fluent. Students who like reading maybe good in conversation because they have wide range of vocabulary. It is a big challenge for a teacher to encourage students and all to read, write, speak the language and listen.
I remembered how my mother exposed herself to reading purposely to increase her skills in reading, writing, comprehension and writing for her to cope with us (her children) who are schooling who asked help from her to do the assignments or asked her to understand the readings assigned. She encouraged us to read even a piece of newspaper used for wrapping items from stores. My mother did not further her schooling but she wanted us to finish schooling. Her interest in reading taught us to do the same. This is where I got the love for reading.
