Writing a lesson plan is important so that you know what you want the students to achieve by the end of the lesson, how you intend to make this possible and it helps you to think about the stages in relation to the amount of time you have available. Lesson plans also help you stay on target and give you something to refer to during the lesson. Lesson plans allow you to record what the students have done and what materials you might have used. Lesson plans need to be simple, structured, have a balance of skills and be flexible. It is also important to be organised. To make sure you have all the necessary materials/equipment and that they work. And to make sure your seating is organised beforehand. Being on time and chatting to the students before the lesson helps break the ice before the lesson begins.
