This unit used videos to demonstrate effective teaching strategies and ineffective teaching strategies in real time. It made several important points. The teacher should begin class in a welcoming way by introducing one's self and others. The teacher should be sure to smile and use welcoming gestures so that the students feel comfortable and engaged in the class. The teacher should clearly explain any and all activities using words, pictures, gestures, and other aids. The teacher should use plenty of examples so that the students understand what they are to be doing during the activities. The teacher should periodically check to ensure that the class is still engaged and is not confused about the content. The teacher should also ensure that they are still following all of the rules and guidelines for the various stages of the lesson.
