This unit is all centred around course books and lesson materials. There are different kinds of course books, therefore we need to use and analyze them carefully. There are many advantages to a course book, such as time-consuming, giving security to students and teachers, great support to inexperienced teachers, etc. On the other hand, there are also lots of disadvantages, such as not fitting the specific needs, stopping teachers from being creative, being outdated and so on. Thus best using of course books is very crucial.
This unit also mentioned the differences between authentic and created materials. Authentic materials are hard to be graded in students' level, but created materials can be designed based on students' level. There are lots of good examples of creating materials, which can be used in our daily teaching.
