This unit is about Lesson Planning. Writing lesson plans has various essential functions such as; an aid to planning, a working document and a record. Lesson plans help keep teachers on point with the lesson and give them something to refer to during the lesson. It also serves as a record of what has been done in the class and helps when somebody else has to cover the class when the teacher is sick. Basic principles to keep in mind when planning a lesson are as follows: keep it simple; don't script the lesson, structure it and maintain the same structure, write the anticipated time for each activity, make sure the activities are balanced and keep it flexible and open to adaptation. It was also presented in this unit what to include in the lesson plan and an example of a standard lesson plan format. I believe writing a lesson plan is important especially for inexperienced teachers and should be done accordingly to maximize its benefits.
