I have learned that the normal patter of intonation is the rise and fall and the second pattern is fall/rise, which indicates that the speaker wants the person to respond. I have also learned that the stressed words are key in interpreting sentences. Stressed words are usually main verbs, nouns, adjectives, and adverbs, where as unstressed are usually pronouns, prepositions, articles and conjunctions. There are 4 major ways that we can join sound together in the English language and they include: linking, sound dropping, sound changing and extra lettering. I also learned about the Phonetic alphabet and how it works.
